Madinah é a segunda cidade mais sagrada do Islã, a cidade da migração do Profeta e local de Al-Masjid an-Nabawi.

Medina (árabe: المدينة المنورة, "a cidade iluminada") é a segunda cidade mais sagrada do Islã. É o local de sepultamento do Profeta Maomé e o local de Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (a Mesquita do Profeta).
História
Medina, então conhecida como Yathrib, foi o destino da migração do profeta Maomé (Hijra) de Meca em 622 d.C., o evento que marca o início do calendário islâmico. Tornou-se a capital do antigo estado muçulmano.

Al-Masjid an-Nabawi é uma das maiores mesquitas do mundo e contém o túmulo do Profeta. A cidade também contém a Mesquita Quba, a primeira mesquita do Islã, e a Mesquita Qiblatain.
