Overview
Saudi Aramco (Arabic: أرامكو السعودية) is the national oil and gas company of Saudi Arabia, headquartered in Dhahran. It is one of the largest companies in the world by revenue and market capitalisation.
History
The company was founded in 1933 as the California Arabian Standard Oil Company and discovered oil in commercial quantities at Dammam No. 7 in 1938. It was fully nationalised in 1980 and renamed Saudi Aramco in 1988.
Operations
Aramco manages the Kingdom's vast oil reserves, including the Ghawar field, the largest conventional oil field in the world. It is a major global exporter of crude oil and a leader in petroleum research and technology.
