Overview

NEOM is a planned cross-border city and economic zone in north-western Saudi Arabia, announced in 2017 as a flagship project of Vision 2030. It is intended to become a hub for technology, tourism and industry.

The project

NEOM covers a large area of Tabuk Province on the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. It includes several sub-projects, most famously The Line, a planned linear city, as well as a floating industrial complex and a mountain tourism destination.

Ambitions

The project aims to attract international investment and to develop new sectors such as renewable energy, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing and tourism. It is one of the largest and most ambitious development projects in the world.
