Hofuf
Hofuf is the largest city of the Al-Ahsa oasis in eastern Saudi Arabia, a centre of date cultivation and a gateway to the region's heritage.
Overview
Hofuf (Arabic: الهفوف) is a city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and the largest settlement of the Al-Ahsa oasis. Al-Ahsa is one of the largest natural oases in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Economy
The Al-Ahsa oasis is famous for its date palms, of which there are more than two million, and for its traditional irrigation system of springs and canals. The city is a centre of the Kingdom's date industry.
Heritage
Hofuf has a number of historic sites, including the Qaisariya market, the Jawatha Mosque and the Ibrahim Palace, and is a gateway to the surrounding oasis and its heritage.
