Overview
Abha (Arabic: أبها) is a city in the south-west of Saudi Arabia and the capital of Asir Province. It lies at an elevation of over 2,200 metres in the Sarawat Mountains.
Climate and tourism
Abha has one of the coolest and wettest climates in Saudi Arabia, with summer temperatures rarely exceeding 30°C. It is a popular domestic tourist destination, known for its mountain scenery, the nearby Asir National Park and the cable car to Jabal Sawda.
Culture
The city is known for its traditional Asiri architecture, its weekly market and its distinctive regional culture, including the colourful Asiri dress and the traditional al-Ardah dance.
