Abdullah bin Khamis

Abdullah bin Khamis (1919–2011) was a Saudi poet, writer and historian, born in Unaizah in the Qassim region. He is regarded as one of the most important figures in the documentation of the geography, history and folklore of the Arabian Peninsula. He wrote poetry in the classical style and was a prolific author of books on the regions, tribes and place names of the Peninsula. He also served as editor of the journal Al-Arab and was a member of the Shura Council. His work is a key source for the historical geography of Saudi Arabia.
