Ghazi Al-Gosaibi

Ghazi Abdul Rahman Al-Gosaibi (1940–2010) was a Saudi poet, novelist, technocrat and diplomat, and one of the most influential literary and public figures of modern Saudi Arabia. He held a doctorate in law and served as Minister of Industry and Electricity, Minister of Health, and Minister of Labour, as well as ambassador to Bahrain and to the United Kingdom. His poetry is noted for its directness, its technical experimentation and its engagement with public life, and he was among the first Saudi poets to write extensively in free verse. He also wrote novels and short stories that explored social change and bureaucracy in the Kingdom.
