Abdullah Al-Baradouni

Abdullah Al-Baradouni (1929–1999) was a poet and critic, blind from childhood, whose work is widely read across the Arabian Peninsula. He wrote in both classical and free verse and was a sharp critic of political and social conditions. His poetry combines traditional Arabic forms with modern themes and a strong sense of social justice, and he is regarded as one of the most important Arab poets of the twentieth century.
