Hail (Arabic: حائل) is a city in the north of Saudi Arabia and the capital of Hail Province. It lies at the foot of the Aja and Salma mountains.
History
Hail was the capital of the Rashidi emirate, which ruled much of northern Arabia from the mid-nineteenth century until 1921. The city is associated with the legendary pre-Islamic poet Hatim al-Tai and his daughter, the poetess Safiyya.
