Economy
Dammam is the administrative centre of the Kingdom's oil industry. Nearby Dhahran is the headquarters of Saudi Aramco, and the King Abdulaziz Port at Dammam is a major commercial port.
Transport
The King Fahd Causeway, opened in 1986, connects the Dammam area to Bahrain. The city is served by King Fahd International Airport, one of the largest airports in the world by area.
