Overview
Riyadh Province (Arabic: منطقة الرياض) is the largest of the thirteen administrative regions of Saudi Arabia by area and the most populous. It lies in the centre of the country on the Najd plateau and contains the national capital, Riyadh.
Geography
The province covers approximately 404,240 square kilometres of the central Arabian interior. The terrain is dominated by the limestone plateau of Najd, cut by wadis and bordered to the west by the Tuwayq escarpment.
Economy
Riyadh Province is the political and financial centre of the Kingdom. It contains the headquarters of the central government, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, the national oil company Saudi Aramco's principal offices, and the largest concentration of corporate headquarters in the country.
