Who founded Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia was founded by Abdulaziz ibn Saud (c. 1875–1953), who unified the regions of the Arabian Peninsula and became the first King of the Kingdom in 1932.

Abdulaziz ibn Saud

Abdulaziz ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Saud, commonly known as Ibn Saud, was the founder and first monarch of Saudi Arabia. He was born in Riyadh into the House of Saud and, after the family's exile in Kuwait, recaptured Riyadh in 1902.

Unification

Over the following three decades he brought the Najd, Al-Ahsa, the Hejaz and the northern regions under his rule, proclaiming the Kingdom in 1932. He ruled until his death in 1953.

Legacy

Ibn Saud established the institutions of the modern state and is regarded as the founding father of the nation.
