Economic relations

Germany is a major supplier of machinery, vehicles and industrial equipment to Saudi Arabia, and German firms are active in Saudi industry, chemicals and infrastructure. Saudi Arabia is a significant energy supplier to Germany.

Energy and climate

The two countries have cooperated on the energy transition, including green hydrogen and renewable energy, as Germany seeks to diversify its energy sources.

Education and research

Cooperation between German and Saudi universities and research institutions has expanded, and Saudi students study at German universities.

Diplomacy

Both countries are members of the G20 and coordinate on international economic questions.
