Overview
Tourism in Saudi Arabia has expanded rapidly under Vision 2030. A tourist visa was introduced in 2019, opening the Kingdom to leisure travellers for the first time, and the sector is a priority for economic diversification.
Destinations
Major destinations include Al-Ula and the Nabataean tombs of Hegra, the historic districts of Jeddah and Diriyah, the Red Sea coast and its diving sites, and the deserts of the interior, including the Empty Quarter.
Heritage
The Kingdom has a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Hegra, Diriyah, historic Jeddah, the Al-Ahsa oasis and the rock art of the Hail region.
Practical information
Visitors can apply for a tourist visa online or on arrival. The country has invested in airports, hotels and transport infrastructure to support the growth of tourism.
